Pop and God

Javier was singing his first pop song today, Selena Gomez "re-peat-peat-peat" and "baby baby".

Meanwhile Joaquin is starting to grapple with Theological questions, having asked me: "what happens if you die?", which led him to: "if you go to Heaven to be with Papa Dios, how come you cannot come back", "if Papa Dios is in Heaven, does that mean he died too?" (I didn't want to go into the whole Trinity thing tho). Also later, "Papa Dios must have a really really big belly. [Why?] Because he gave birth to the whole World. "

More on Parent-Teacher Day

Teacher says Joaquin is a very sensitive child.  He often would cry after nap during the days Mamu is on the trip. Mamu feels so guilty because at home he seems so strong and always waves goodbye and welcomes me back with a big smile.

Other that that (and the fact he goes to school late), he has made very good progress.  He made good friends and became very outgoing.  He tells Teacher what he wishes to accomplish every day during "work" time.  Typically it's 3-4 tasks and he always wants to bake cookies.  Teacher Li usually puts baking as the last task so when he comes to school late he doesn't get to do it (as a tool to entice him to arrive at school early).  We have been taking him to school between 830-9am since the PT meeting and Joaquin reportedly is enjoying school a lot more (and has been bringing home his cookies every day!)

At school, whenever kids have conflicts, they are supposed to resolve it by talking it out before school ends.  One would need to approach the other with flowers and say "I want to resolve our issue" and neither side can get emotional when the flowers are present.  The other day when Javier took Joaquin's toy (No, it's not a typo; Javi takes toys away from Joaquin).  Joaquin took a flower to try to work it out with Javier but only to get Javi's big-eye stare (and got his flower snatched away from Javier again).  So cute!

Joaquin is really becoming a big boy.  The other day we went hiking with his school.  He actually finished the entire hike and more by himself.  We (including the teachers) were all very impressed given his age.

Parent-Teacher day at the Montessori

Teacher reports all's good, only complaint is we take him to school too late in the morning so he's always disappointed he can't finish his "work".
(More from Joyce...)

Last day at Fuhsing!
